Heavy Metal Benefit For Wildlife January 14th!

THE CAPITAL AREA METAL MUSIC MEETUP PRESENTS: A BENEFIT CONCERT FOR SECOND CHANCE WILDLIFE CENTER IN GAITHERSBURG, MD

This is a benefit concert for Second Chance Wildlife Center in Gaithersburg, MD. They rehabilitate abandoned, injured, and sick wildlife. The center runs on a very tight budget with an all volunteer crew, and needs all they help they can get to perform their important mission.

The website is http://www.scwc.org/

I organized this event to help them, to bring metal heads together for a night of beer and awesome music, and also give us all a chance to support something positive in this difficult political climate.

This show will feature the following bands. More may be added to the list, but as of right now as I type, the following bands are playing in this order:

1st band: Seasick Gladiator – an instrumental doom-prog band from Washington, D.C. and NoVA.

2nd band: Thonian Horde – Black metal mixed with rock n’ roll, death, and thrash. From Boonesboro, MD.

3rd band: Backblast, powerful heavy metal with an awesome groove and power metal influences. From Manassas VA.

Exact times and slots to be figured out shortly before the show. I think each band can get about an hour of time. This is my very first attempt at organizing a show, so any tips and advice would be appreciated.

A huge THANK YOU to all the bands who agreed to play, and to Will Cook and Atlas Brewery. All of you people are awesome people I am glad to know. And last but not least a thank you to everyone who comes out to the show.

(Please note – I do not know what the traditional customs are for the event, but if bands have stuff to sell like shirts and CDs please by all means bring them!).

I will be throwing $100 of my own money as a good will gesture to get the pot started. Not sure of exactly how the money side of things works, but I will talk to Will Cook and the rescue group very soon.

If this whole thing takes off and is successful I would like to make this an annual event. More bands, etc…

Please invite your friends, your family, your boss, your rabbi, your soccer coach, your chiropractor… anyone who likes metal and would like to help the critters!
