Atlas Brew Works Opens New Tap Room with Extended Hours

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Atlas Brew Works today announced the opening of a new Tap Room in its Ivy City brewery and extended hours of operation. The new environment connects to the 100 percent solar powered brewery’s new outdoor patio space on West Virginia Ave NE, which opened earlier this spring. The new facility represents the first major expansion of the three-year-old operation, which has grown to produce 4,000 barrels of environmentally responsible beer per year.

“We worked to create a comfortable and open environment for our patrons to enjoy fresh local craft beer directly from the source,” said Atlas Founder & CEO Justin Cox. “We’ve moved beyond traditional beer tastings; Atlas Brew Works is proud to be a gathering place for the community. Through this new Tap Room, we’re excited to expand our offerings in the number of beers available and open every day of the week.”

The new 2,600 sq foot Tap Room abuts the production brewery, includes a large garage door window for views of the brewery, and has room to accommodate up to 16 draft lines. Atlas will soon install a 3.5bbl pilot brewing system to compliment the new space. “The pilot system will allow us to express our brewing creativity in small batches available only in the Tap Room and in select accounts throughout our distribution footprint,” said Cox.

The space was designed by Justin Feit of FEIT Design of Charleston, S.C. Feit and Cox have been friends since middle school. “This was an unique and awesome opportunity to work with one of my oldest friends and the result is incredible!” said Cox.

“Working with a hometown friend, to create a public space in the nation’s Capital sounded amazing, but that was really just the start. Getting to know Atlas and other local brewers was the real marrow of the project for me. Hopefully the Tap Room will let visitors enjoy being part of that community just as I did.” said Feit.

The new Tap Room is open seven days a week starting Memorial Day weekend: 4pm-10pm Monday through Thursday; 4pm-11pm Friday; 11am-11pm Saturday; and, 11am-10pm Sunday. Tours of the production facility will be held Saturdays at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm,& 6pm. Patrons will be able to continue to bring their own food to the brewery throughout the week and purchase from local food trucks most weekends.

Atlas Brew Works locally produces its solar powered draft and canned beers including its three flagship beers: Rowdy, a Hop-Forward Rye Ale; District Common, a California Common Lager featuring Czech Saaz hops; and, Ponzi, a West-coast style IPA. Atlas beer is available in bars, restaurants, and stores in D.C., Northern Virginia and Maryland.
